Sharks of the Genus Paragaleus and Galeorhinus

The teeth of sharks belonging to the genus Galeorhinus and the upper teeth of sharks belonging to the genus Paragaleus are morphologically similar. Some of the teeth of sharks belonging to
both genera are available in a comprehensive set of morphological data
(Herman, 1991*). Only one species of G. galeus is known in the present genus Galeorhinus, while four species are known in the present genus Paragaleus (P. leucolomatus, P pectolaris, P. randalli, and P. tengi). In addition, there are many sharks of other genera with teeth similar
to those of G. galeus. It is difficult to identify the teeth of these sharks based on currently
available data. In this site, basically, we have decided to list both genera
together, assuming that the teeth of sharks of both genera are indistinguishable.
