Relationship between the totall length of Squalus mitsukurii (Jordan & Snyder, 1903) (Fig. 2.) and the size of its teeth.was investigated.
Nine sharks were collected from the waters around Japan, mainly from Tokyo
Bay. The jaws were separated from each shark and two teeth were collected
from the fifth file of each lower jaw (excluding shark m70), one on each
side, and the average size of the four teeth was determined. (Fig. 3 and
4) The results of the measurements are shown in Fig. 1. The measurement
result linear equation X = (Y-0.26)/0.042 was obtained. |
