Deep water fauna

A research on deep water sharks in Tokyo Bay was carried out from October, 2009 to November, 2011. Sharks taken by bottom gill net from the upper part of the mesopelagic zone in Tokyo Bay were 14 genera, 22 species, 116 in number. During this period, shallow water sharks, 4 genera, 4 speciea, 6 in number in Tokyo Bay were also taken by the bottom gill net placed at depth of 50-150 m.
