The serrations of teeth of sharks of the genus Deania was studied. 1) Six sharks of Deania calcea were examined for their lower teeth. Weak serrations were observed in the
lower teeth of the adult sharks of this species. On the other hand, the
presence or absence of serrations in juveniles is not clear. 2) In Deania hystoricosa, two individuals were examined.@As a result, weak serrations were observed in this shark species, as in D. calcea. More distinct serrations were observed in male sharks than in female
sharks. The teeth of juveniles have not been studied. |
