The relationship between total length and tooth size in Deania calcea (Lowe, 1839)(Fig. 2.) was examined. Seven sharks were collected from Tokyo Bay. The jaws were separated from each shark (Fig. 3), and two or one fifth tooth from the right side of each separated lower jaw was isolated. The size of those teeth was then measured. (Fig. 4). The measurement results are shown in Figure 1. Measurements showed no simple linear relationship between the total length and tooth size of Deania calcea. What the results indicate is that the relationship between the two can be shown by two types of linear relationships.
